Tim Simboli, lifelong resident of the Philadelphia region, is a fourth generation artist. He received his training at Tyler School of Art. After graduating, he traveled to Rome, Italy where he immersed himself in the study of landscape and still life. Over the years, he has worked in a variety of media, but has recently concentrated on pastels for achieving the rich color-layering that is his trademark. The immediacy of this medium allows him to capture the temporary nature of light which is a central theme in his painting. He creates visual texture by varying marks and strokes to represent surfaces and create depth. Simboli is an alumni member of the Creative Artists Network in Philadelphia and a former Board member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society. He was the recipient of the Louisa Melrose Gallery Award in 2002. His work has appeared in notable venues such as American College, Moore College of Art, the Maryland Institute College of Art and Immaculata University. His work has been exhibited in both the United States and Europe and appears in numerous private collections.
