Please join us as Borrelli's Chestnut Hill Gallery hosts a collection of art by six latino/a artists curated by Marta Sanchez

Marta Sanchez will be curating a show consisting of six latino/a artists from the Philadelphia area.  For her, it means that many small steps lead to monumental events. In this diverse exhibit, "gotas" and "mares" refer to the sampling of works these renowned area latino/a artists have shared to form this collective "ocean."

This exhibit includes artists that are often in the Philadelphia’s mix of art making. Brazilian artist Doris Nogueira-Rogers lives in New Jersey but works at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Education Programs, which is involved with communities throughout the city. Puerto Rican artist Anabelle Rodriguez is an artist, curator, and cultural anthropologist who teaches at the University of the Arts.  Dino Vasquez, also originally from Puerto Rico, creates robot assemblages from found objects.  To date, he has created over 18 life-size assemblages and has exhibited in many solo and group shows.  Venezuelan artist Henry Bermudez is a nationally recognized artist, muralist and gallery owner in the Frankford area.  Salvador Di Quinzio is a Venezuelan artist who has been featured in many exhibitions locally and is internationally renowned- having paintings held in private collections in Germany, the Netherlands, and Venezuela.   Marta Sanchez is from San Antonio Texas and considers herself a Chicana artist. She teaches art at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and St. Joseph University and has a nonprofit grassroots organization that assists families affected by HIV/AIDS.
