Chestnut Hill Gallery is honored to host a reception and book signing for nationally-acclaimed, award-winning artist/author Patricia Moss-Vreeland. Join us on Saturday, October 26th as Ms. Moss-Vreeland reads from her new book, A Place for Memory: Where Art and Science Meet. Her drawings and multi-media works will be on display from October 21st-26th. "Each page becomes a pathway, a thread for making another pattern of thought and experience - and as memory is triggered, the brain responds to thoughts and feelings in relationship to past connections and associations - and then we all become creators through the lens of memory" - excerpt from A Place for Memory, Where Art and Science Meet

About the Author
Artist Award winning artist Patricia Moss-Vreeland expands upon her critically acclaimed exhibition and installation, The Millennial, Art-in-Science XIV, Memory Connections Matter, conceived in collaboration with a noted neuropsychologist. Memory-Connections Matter was the inspiration for A Place for Memory: Where Art and Science Meet. A Place for Memory is both an art book and a book designed to underscore our human potential for creativity. Moss-Vreeland takes us on a visual journey beyond a text- based only experience. The artist reveals through evocative images and poetic text the relationships between creativity, learning and memory. Patricia Moss-Vreeland's paintings, drawings and multimedia works have been exhibited nationally since 1974, at institutions including the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Institute of Contemporary Art. Her work resides in prestigious permanent collections, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. Public and private commissions include design, mural and fabrication, portraiture, book arts, and multi-media works. In 1993, after winning a national competition, Moss-Vreeland designed the Memorial Room for the Holocaust Museum Houston. This permanent installation earned four awards including the American Institute of Architects Honor award in Design, and the Spectrum International Award in Design. Moss-Vreeland began integrating her poetry into her art with the commission for Memory-Connections Matter at EKG, University City Science Center. The exhibition became the inspiration for this book.
